Adopting Global Opening Strategy for Enhanced Global Competitiveness —— A Symposium between the Office of Global Engagement and the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences

On the morning of October 5, 2021, a group from the Office of Global Engagement visited the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences for a symposium. Attendees included Zhang Guangcui, director of the Office, Zhu Beibei, deputy director of the Office, Li Jun, Tian Jian and relevant staff as well as Ma Jie, dean of the School, Qu Yuanli, secretary of the School’s Party Committee and relevant leaders of the School.

The symposium started from an introduction given by Dean Ma Jie about the School’s subjects, majors, graduates’ employment and development outlook, and international cooperation. Then, Office Director Zhang Guangcui summarized the gist of several important national documents and meetings centering on “medical sciences, education, health care and innovation”, analyzed in detail the world university rankings in pharmaceutical sciences, and put forward suggestions for the School’s path of global strategy and objectives of international cooperation. The two sides also exchanged ideas on how to update cultivation concepts and innovate international cooperation methods. Dean Ma and other leaders from the School praised the symposium for raising awareness of global cooperation, offering guidelines for international exchanges and setting objectives for international cooperation in pharmaceutical sciences.

In the end, Dean Ma expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Office of Global Engagement for offering detailed analysis and accurate guidance. Looking forward, the School will expand cooperation channels, seek more cooperation with B&R countries, innovate cultivation methods, and improve educational quality. The School will incorporate international cooperation into its overall development strategy, and leverage it as a catalyst to improve the scientific and research level and broaden the global vision of students and teaching staff. We will give full play to the role of all teachers, keep forging ahead and blaze a new trail in international cooperation.
