School of Pharmaceutical Sciences to “Improve the Quality of Postgraduate Education” Series I—Lecture: CNKI and Web of Science in Scientific Research

On the morning of March 23, the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences invited Ms. Liu Chongjiao, Associate Research Librarian of Jilin University, to offer a lecture on “CNKI and Web of Science in Scientific Research”, which was held at the meeting room on the fifth floor of the School. Wang Yi, Deputy Dean in charge of postgraduates of the School, presided at the lecture. Other 30 postgraduate representatives also attended the activity. The lecture was broadcast live through Tencent Meeting, providing a convenient online channel for all the teachers and students in the School.

Starting from her own practice and the relevant issues, Ms. Liu emphasized the importance of learning literature retrieval skills and introduced the application of literature retrieval in the whole process of scientific research through a vivid PowerPoint presentation step by step. The contents included CNKI advanced search, professional search, sentence search, and other specific operations and examples, as well as how to analyze, screen, and apply the search results from Web of Science. In addition, Ms. Liu suggested that students pay attention to relevant professional websites, WeChat official accounts at home and abroad, so as to timely update their knowledge reserve and grasp the hot spots of the academic front.

Ms. Liu’s excellent explanation has helped to improve the practice ability of the teachers and students in using Chinese and foreign databases and expanded their access to more up-to-date, comprehensive, and relevant scientific research literature resources through making full use of databases and online resources. All the above laid a foundation for postgraduates to better complete their scientific research.
