Per the requirements of JLU’s Notice on Further Strengthening Laboratory Safety Management and COVID-19 Prevention and Control During the 2021 Winter Break, a thorough inspection on the School’s teaching and research laboratories, research classrooms and offices was carried out on the morning of January 15. Led by Qu Yuanli, secretary of the Party Committee, Deputy Administrative Dean Zhu Hongli, Lu Qiang, director of the Office for Comprehensive Affairs, and others mainly went over safety issues on firefighting, water and electricity, dangerous chemicals, and learned the situation of faculties and students staying on campus over the winter break.

The inspection group checked for potential hazards for dangerous chemicals storage in labs, disposal of wastes and equipment usage, and has discovered that most labs were able to carefully implement the School’s various regulations and requirements on safety management. Problems revealed through the screening were promptly corrected to ensure the School’s overall safety.

Safety awareness and ownership of the faculties and students were greatly bolstered through this inspection. Meanwhile, Secretary Qu emphasized that for unused labs during the winter break, water, electricity and gas must be properly handled, and they are to be locked and pasted with a notice of sealing. For labs used, a daily report system for lab use must be strictly implemented, and a daily log be kept to ensure that all faculties and students can have a safe and smooth winter break.
